Guidance
The Lord will show you guidance and direction. We only need to be still and listen to what He offers us in this life.
I never imagined how much becoming a grandmother would change my life. Both my budget and my joints require change. I rearrange the furniture to create space for a sleeping baby. I have a crib, a high chair, diapers, wipes, toys and books. My car holds a car seat and I wonder why grandmothers don’t get a baby shower as well.
I find myself changing schedules, and life in general, so I can spend time with this precious blessing. I want to climb jungle gyms, run with her after our boxer dog to make her laugh, chase bubbles, crawl around the floor and bury our toes in the sand. Most of this to happen in our future. She is only 5 months old. I greatly look forward to our future together.
Challenges and Change
I am not to old for this. Though I am finding that working out is important so I can do these things. Being a grandma always challenges me to see what my body can and cannot do. What I am capable of. I am finding I can do more than I think I can. This precious baby gets me out of my comfort zone every single day. Watching her grow is a gift. You never know who long the Lord will have me here with her. I plan to soak in every moment possible before I become a memory.
Could grandchildren be God’s way of reminding us we are never too old to change?
Abraham was 75 when God called him to a new life in a new land. Moses was 80 when God had him lead the Israelites out of Egypt. God has never accepted age as an excuse to refuse change or take on new assignments. Neither does a grandchild!
Just when I am getting comfortable in my ways, God sent a grandchild to remind me that I’m not as old as I think I am. Change is His way of giving new meaning and direction to my life.
Prayer
A Prayer for my Granddaughter:
Heavenly Father, Our Creator of mind and body,
I pray that you will give my grandchild emotional health and strength.
Where there is anger, bring peace.
Where there is confusion, bring clarity and focus.
Where there are dark shadow, cast a ray of hope.
Fill her with sunshine of your spirit. Warm her with the presence of your peace.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
I am just starting this journey. How about you? Where are you at in the grandparent journey? Any advice?
I have a printable of this very prayer for you. Hang it on the fridge or frame it and always remember to pray for your grandchildren.
